Evans Easyspace ignoring concerns about the BNP's Excalibur - time for Stage Two

Some of the rubbish sold via Excalibur, the BNP's tatty merchandising arm
As regular readers will know, we printed the excellent Searchlight exposé about the location of the British National Party's Excalibur operation - the place from which it distributes its 'tatty, cringe-making and overpriced goods' - back in early September. We followed this article up with one of our own in mid-September, when we asked our readers to do their bit in the fight against the BNP - in this case by emailing to inform the owners of the premises in which Excalibur is based precisely what they are allowing to be stored in and distributed from their premises.

In that article, we listed a few of the more offensive items that we know are stocked and sold by Excalibur. The list is here:
  • Deeply offensive 'Golly' Pens and badges
  • Books by pro-eugenics author Roger Pearson, promoting an all-white society
  • Books that make the unfounded claim that immigrants are responsible for TB and HIV
  • The truly appalling, racist, anti-semitic and white supremacist March of the Titans by Arthur Kemp, who currently works at Excalibur
  • The fake Victoria Cross which was so recently the subject of much controversy in several newspapers, and many more fake medals
  • Badges with 'Enoch Powell was right', 'Say no to asylum' and 'No immigrants, no bombs' - presumably forgetting the IRA's visits of a few years back, the three bombs set off by the BNP's very own David Copeland in Soho and Mark Bulman, a BNP activist who set fire to a mosque, to say nothing of the various members of the BNP (including Robert Cottage) who stockpiled bomb-making equipment but got caught before they made use of it, and Tony Lecomber, who blew himself up accidentally while on his way to bomb the offices of a rival political party. Lecomber worked for the BNP for a further ten years after this, finally getting the sack after attempting to recruit another ex-BNP member, gangland hitman Joe Owens, to assassinate a leading politician.
  • T-shirts glorifying Enoch Powell, with slogans such as 'It's cool to be white' and 'BNP - It's a white thing'.
Lots of our readers emailed the company, Evans Easyspace Ltd of Millshaw, Leeds, but as far as we know not a single one got even so much as an acknowledgment that their email had been received.

That's not on. When people are showing their concern by contacting a company about a perceived problem, the very least they should expect is a courteous response. Any less is ignorance and doesn't say a great deal about the company's view of public relations - particularly where the complaint, as in this case, deals largely with racism - and implies that the company concerned is okay with what its clients are doing.

Time then, to step up the campaign a little.

The last time we asked you to contact the company, we suggested the single email address of the general office. This time, we're asking you to either phone and speak to one of the people listed below (the phone and fax numbers are down there, too) or to email them directly. If you have the time, it would be best to send an individual email to each of the people on the list. If not, we've included a single line of email addresses that can be placed in the CC (copy to) or BCC (blind copy to) box of your email client. That way, everyone at the Evans' Head Office will receive the email.

It's up to us to stop Excalibur churning out this offensive racist crap and it's up to Evans to do what it can do to stop this garbage being spread around. Let's get emailing, phoning and faxing so that Evans are shown in no uncertain terms that there are a lot of people out here who are getting angry at being ignored and who are demanding that action is taken against Excalibur. Remember though that we are trying to get Evans Easyspace on our side, so please remain calm and polite at all times - you can always throw darts at a picture of Nick Griffin later, to wind down. ;-)

Any responses received can go into the comments section of this post.

I've completed Stage Two. I'm dying to know what happens with Stage Three. Do we go and occupy their offices? Or Excalibur itself? That'd be fun.

Emailed again and now I'm preparing to throw darts at a picture of Nick Griffin. Not to wind down, just because he's a shit.

I've been on several walk-in demo's and they've all been loads of fun and extremely successful. Personally I think we need to exhaust all other avenues first and I'm glad Lancaster Unity is playing it carefully. A walk-in demo needs to be well planned and co-ordinated whether its at Evans or Excalibur but as a last resort, it should up the anti a lot and nobody can say they haven't been warned because you can bet both Evans and the BNP are watching this page very closely.

Complaints sent in.

Emails sent and this time I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an answer. :)

Done.

A very sensible comment.

Maybe the BNP have shares in the company, which would explain why they would ignore the e-mails, or the directors are best buddies with paedoboy or that sinister morley hitler worshipper.

Either that or the owners are bnp sympathisers.

It's always a distinct possibility.

Some of the haul of racist material contravenes British law, in particular the Kemp stuff, which would warrant a police raid on the premises, if anough tip-offs are given to the police.

Then, there's trading standards. Looking at Google, there seems to be a problem with fake medals sld as real ones on the internet. Regardless of the fact the fake medals are designed for dickheads to wear in public to pretend they are war veterans, there is always a possibility, (like fake coins that some of the medals are ending up sold on EBay. Point this out to the local trading standards, and this would force another raid on the premises.

Both the police and trading standards have to act upon tip-offs.

If there was a raid on the premises, and criminal charges are laid against the owners (Mark Collett and Excallibur), Evans would also land in the shit, as an accomplice to the criminality for failing to inform the police about the stash of illegal and fake materials.

Don't you just like spambots??????

Well said. Emails sent to complete list. I doubt if this will work because business is interested only in money, not morality, but it's worth a go.

No they don't, it's a privately owned company, the shares of which are not traded publicly.

I agree with all that but companies are in the business of making money and you'd be hard put to find many companies that give a toss about anything else. If you can get more publicity for this campaign, the company might capitulate, no company likes adverse publicity, but I doubt anything else will work. Personally I'm all for the demo either at Evans or Excalibur. As long as the press are invited and attend, that'll work because that will cost them hard cash with other companies quite rightly not wanting to be associated with someone who supports the BNP. I've emailed anyway, just wanted to have my say. :)

"Don't you just like spambots??????"

What does that mean?

What does that mean?

I think the writer is just trying to point out that all the email addresses in this article are going to be picked up by spambots as they zoom around the internet gathering info. It just means Evans Easyspace people are going to be getting nine million more emails every day. Their own fault really - if they'd responded politely in the first place, LU wouldn't be bothering with them now.

Personally, I think that this is going to be our most productive course of action so let's get to it and start reporting the blatantly racist items that Excalibur is selling.

Just saw this on Loony Lee's blog

"Lancaster Unity in Fraud Scandal

The organisation that funds Kirlklees Unity website and which has offered and
provided financial support to Lancaster Unity is under investigation for fraud"

Really???

Antifascist said...

'...which has offered and
provided financial support to Lancaster Unity'

Like Barnes himself, I have no idea what he's on about. We get nothing from any official (or indeed semi-official) bodies and rely completely on personal donations. He wants to watch his over-large mouth or he might find himself in court for libel.

Anonymous said...

Mad Bastard Barnes is obviously keeping a close eye on this site too.

"Please Sue Me
Lancaster Unity is usual shouting its big gob off making threats it aint gonna back up with action.

Please sue me you red scum dickheads.

I would just love to get you lot into court and get full details via disclosure on who you are, where your money comes from, who supports you, what the IP numbers of those who leave comments on the site are and whose e mail and internet accounts they relate too and also who controls the site."

As this so-called legal eagle should know, any libel case would deal solely with the libel - in this case, his accusation that LU is involved with a fraud scandal and that some organisation which is under investigation had offered and provided financial support to LU. All he's trying to do is taint you by association but that could be cause for legal resource.

As for who you are, he knows who you are already, as do we all. Your income is irrelevant - it would be up to him to prove a link between you and this organisation, not you. The IP numbers of those who leave comments on the site are also irrelevant and have nothing to do with this, nor do the email addresses or commenters.

Really, if he has any legal training at all, he should sue the people who gave it to him. They must have been rubbish.

Anonymous said...

Damn, I forgot. He also claims that he'd get to find out who controls the site. I thought he knew. I thought we all know.

Anonymous said...

You should sue that fuckhead. Its time he was kicked off his perch.

Anonymous said...

"You should sue that fuckhead. Its time he was kicked off his perch."

I don't think you should bother. He's just a laughing stock, even in his own party. He's too insignificant to bother with.

Back to the point. I've emailed and have specifically asked for a response/acknowledgment of my email.

Anonymous said...

Loobyloo wants to know the IP addresses of people who post comments here. He must be trying to find out who all your informants inside the BNP are.

Anonymous said...

Indeed. LLB wants to take physical action with his attack dogs against all of the rebels who post here through threats just like he did to Auty whom he threatened with threats until he vanished from the BNP.

If he could get hold of the IP addresses, they would be matched up with those on SF, and criminal actions would be taken against the IP addresses that match.

For god sake, Barnesy, you're meant to be a laywer not a feckin criminal.

Yes, I hope the spambots do a jolly good job, as the viagra and cialis would surely persuade the PLC to cut the crap and stop making money out of nazis.

Actually, if Excalibur is wound up, there probably would be lots of money saved from membership subs, as it is a loss-making business once the greedy gr£ffins take their cut.

If the self-styled Legal Beagle was taken to court and happened to lose (which I am sure he would) Griffin would get have to rid of him.

I've heard that the CID's getting involved mate.

Upfront said: 'Both the police and trading standards have to act upon tip-offs'.
Afraid you are misinformed-nobody is OBLIGED to act on tip-offs, especially if they are seen as potentially vindictive/vexatious.
Do you not think that the police and trading standards have enough to do already? Don't mean to sound brutal, just honest.

Antifascist said...

'TEXT BOMBING IS COOL!!!!!!'

Cool or not, Lancaster Unity in NO way condones it. Text them by all means but text bombing in our name is out.

'BE POLITE WITH YOUR TEXTS, OF COURSE.'

That I agree with.

'I've heard that the CID's getting involved mate.'

That's good news, at least. More information if or when you have it, please.
